Q&A

Q: Is a Razor Cut right for me?

A: Contrary to some beliefs, razor cuts can work well on many hair types, depending on the desired outcome.
More often than not, improper technique is the culprit behind frayed ends, split ends, or excessive weight removal during “bad” razor cut experiences.

If you’re looking for texture, movement, weight removal without thinning shears, pointy ends, piecey-ness, feathering, lightening of curls, edgy bangs, or hair that can stand up on its own, a razor cut may be right for you.

If you prefer cleaner lines, blunt ends, sharp structure, or preserving as much length as possible, a shear cut will likely be your best friend.

And guess what? We can blend both shears and razor for length AND texture!

Q: What’s the deal with hourly pricing?

Will you just take your time?

A: Yes, and no.
We take our time because we care deeply about the integrity of your hair and your satisfaction. But hourly pricing isn’t about moving slowly, it’s about working intentionally. With hourly pricing, you can expect an entirely different experience than traditional salons.

When booking, you’re given a realistic time range based on your goals. During your appointment, we keep you informed about how things are progressing, and are trained in efficient techniques that prioritize both your desired outcome and the health of your hair.

The biggest difference? You can relax.
You won’t be wondering what the total will be at the end, and there’s no sticker shock at checkout. Everything is included, and gratuity is never expected, because our team is compensated fairly for their work they perform.

Q: Why does my haircut look good at the salon but flat a few weeks later?

A: Most stylists are educated using a one-size-fits-all model.
While learning the foundations is essential, we’ve turned the traditional approach on its head and do things differently here.

Our founder, Casey, has spent over 20 years studying haircutting techniques and came to a simple realization: haircuts are 3D sculptures.
Once that clicked, everything changed.

We train using a different model.
Hair is fluid. It moves. It changes.
It won’t look the same every day ! There are cowlicks, growth patterns, humidity shifts, and natural movement. All of that is taken into account at MOD because we are real about how hair grows.

We design hair to grow out well because it’s customized to your hair. Not a diagram from a cosmetology textbook written in the 1980s.

Many of our clients enjoy their hair for months at a time because their cut doesn’t “fall apart.”
It evolves. It softens. It gets better with each stage of growth.
